Resilience; prologue (2020) is part of the Streets of Hope presentation. Responding to the given theme, the sculpture echoes our nation’s journey of resilience and response in a COVID-19 plagued world. The notion, rendered through the many converging layers of resin tinted pigments, portray our togetherness and endeavours despite looming uncertainty. In the lower portion of sculpture, busy gold mark makings are cancelled out upon contact with blocks of vibrant pastel hues. The evolution and placement of colours seeks to evoke a sense of stability, clarity and liveliness in the viewer. Moulded in its form, Resilience; prologue guides the line of sight upwards to its pointed top, with the intention of conveying optimism to the viewer.
